Computing & Innovation Initiative
We are excited to launch the “Computing and Innovation” initiative during the O’Neal Auction next week. We would love for you to attend the Auction and support this effort. If the Auction doesn’t fit into your schedule, but you still want to contribute, you can make an online donation here.
The goal of this project is to serve the creative abilities of every child at O’Neal by providing them with the skills, space and opportunities needed to experiment and innovate. Students will be able to work with electromechanics, build robots and practice with design. In addition to an upper school for-credit course, this space will also cater to afterschool activities in robotics for middle and lower school students. This dedicated space will be equipped with furniture conducive to creating and collaborating, hand and power tools, electronic and robotic toolkits as well as a 3D printer. It will serve as a classroom for an upper school credit course as well as cater to afterschool activities in robotics for middle and lower school students. We hope to conclude each building and creating season with a competition. This space will be located in Bradshaw Hall in the room adjacent to the library in what used to be a computer lab.
The computer lab in the Middle School will also be addressed with a complete room renovation, including 17 new computers and a smart projector creating a brand new instructional space for computing and demonstrations. One of the computers in this lab will be equipped for dual monitors and accessories for audio-visual content creation.
We hope you will support this initiative. If you have any questions or suggestions please contact Dr. Mulik at email@example.com or just drop by Room #5 in the Upper School.
